The real reason campaigns die
Most campaigns do not end because of the story. They end because scheduling gets harder each week until the group quietly stops meeting. A fast, low-effort way to agree on the next session keeps the game alive.
With a poll, the game master proposes the next few possible sessions and every player answers in their own time. No one has to scroll back through the Discord channel to find out which Friday was agreed.
Running the poll as a game master
Create a poll named after the campaign and session number, for example "Curse of Strahd — session 14". Add the evenings or weekend afternoons you can run, and tap the start hours.
Post the link in your Discord, WhatsApp or group chat. Players mark "works" or "if need be". The results page shows the best slot and exactly who would be missing, so you can decide whether a session can run without a player.
Paste the copied summary back in the channel so the whole party sees the date — and has no excuse to forget it.
Tips
- ✅ Decide your minimum party size in advance and set it as the expected number of players.
- ✅ Offer the next two weeks at once so you can lock in two sessions from one poll.
- ✅ The same works for board game nights, video game raids and poker nights.
